A New National Data Resource for the Fire Service
On December 9, 2025, the National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) released NERIS Public: Fire Departments, a live geospatial dataset containing daily updated information on nearly 30,000 local fire departments across the United States. This is the first dataset available under the new [NERIS Public] banner, which will expand with additional public data services in 2026.

One Map, One Mission: The NERIS–NASF Collaboration Advancing Fire Service Data Nationwide
The National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) is a unique public-private partnership with the US Fire Administration and Department of Homeland Security Office of Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T), with a mission to provide authoritative and timely data to the fire service. As part of that effort, over the past year, the NERIS team partnered with the National Association of State Foresters (NASF) to create a single, national view of fire department service boundary areas.
