I didn’t start building Hoasel because I wanted to “disrupt” anything. I started because something felt wrong.

As a developer and product designer, I kept seeing platforms built around engagement that extracted value from users without giving anything meaningful back. Clicks, attention, participation — all unpaid. Meanwhile, businesses paid for impressions that didn’t convert, and users were treated as metrics instead of people.

That frustration eventually turned into a product idea; and later, a winning pitch at the Tech4Dev Bootcamp.

The Engagement Problem Developers Don’t Talk About Enough

Most engagement platforms today optimize for numbers, not value.
