A new meta-analysis compared three FDA-approved GLP-1 medications used for weight loss in nondiabetic patients and found the largest average weight reduction with tirzepatide, sold as Zepbound for weight loss and Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes. Across the studies, tirzepatide helped patients lose more than 20% of their starting body weight, compared with about 15% for semaglutide, sold as Wegovy, and 8% for liraglutide, sold as Saxenda.
