I’ve tried a lot of things over the last few years in Dubai. Some habits have stuck, some are best left behind.
Here are habits I’ll be keeping and some I’m working on in 2026:
- Delete Social Media Apps was a great Digital Minimalism suggestion. This habit simply removed noise from my life. I see no reason to have the apps anyway, everything is on my desktop if I need it for work, and my friends are on WhatsApp. (Maybe I’ll get a dumb phone one day)

(Maybe I’ll get a dumb phone one day)
- No phone after 8PM or two hours before sleep is a nice rule, I generally forget about my phone once I get home, rather sketching or gaming in my free time.
- Being Active Daily I find is one of the best ways to keep my mental health in check. The goal is 7,000 steps a day, or one hour’s activity a day.
- Eating whole foods sounds easy, but this habit is more about avoiding human junk food, as I already eat clean whole food. A habit I’m cultivating better to diminish my habit of comfort eating.
- Listening to my favourite music sounds like a simply habit, but I noticed during the week, I am far more upbeat listening to good music, than podcasts or YouTube videos, so, best to keep cutting those out. Here’s my playlist by the way.
- Saying no if I want to, and not worrying about it is so important to keep my peace, and mind clear. This is me, trying to kill my people pleasing habit I’ve cultivated being an Account Manager.
- Sleep is so important so I strive to have more of it. This isn’t a habit I’m good at yet, but it’s about practice not perfection. I must sleep, and I need to be stricter about prioritising it.
- Practice Something Creative Everyday has become a more and more important habit: be it sketching, Minecraft, writing, anything. Art is my air, and without it, my soul dies.
