This year was particularly hard.
On January 20th I returned to my old job at the engineering firm after 7months off. The main reason was because of Trump’s reelection I knew things were not going to be easy and I wanted to be prepared. However, I believe it was a good decision. I currently work a 32hr work week, and have great peers.
During this month I also deleted Instagram and Facebook, which has been good for me but a little hard to do at the beginning due to FOMO, and because I’ve had Facebook since I was 15 or so.
On February, my niece was born. This was a hard notice to get at first due to reasons but she is the cutest thing ever!!!

On May, I had to put down my dog of 16 years due to cancer that was not responding to chemotherapy. His name was Memín. Memín was my bebito, I love him dearly and still miss him. I decided to bury him at my house and planted my favorite tree on top, a ‘Moca’ tree (Andira inermis). I’ve been taking care of this tree since and its growing well.
On September I had to trade in my car. I was not particularly attached to it, but I had many memories on it. Sidewalks get you nowhere in here, and there is no public transportation, so everything happens on my car. This car got me everywhere and carried many people... I had many good moments on it but it was time to let it go. The transmission was going bad, and it being a CVT, the mechanic told me it was better to sell it.
On October, my girlfriend’s dachshund of 17yrs also died of old age. He suffered a lot as he was not able to walk for some months, but he was a sweet dog. We planted an ‘Ilan-Ilan’ tree (Cananga odorata) and it’s been very healthy so far.
On December, there’s been some issues with the niece’s mama and her boyfriend. All I can say is that I hope she can get out of there before its too late. I’ve been so nervous these past days, but I’m really hoping everything goes well.
So far many more things have happened, many vet appointments, long car trips, etc, but this year will definitely be remembered as a special year for me. I’ve cried, loved, laughed, traveled, learned to control anger, ate healthier... It has definitely been hard, but also memorable.
