I am a stroke specialist and neurointensivist, Assistant Professor, Division of Neurology, at the University of Toronto, where I serve in the role of a Clinician in Quality and Innovation. I am also Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University in the Division of Neurology. With over 10 years of experience as a staff physician across academic and academic-affiliated community sites. My clinical expertise are: vascular neurology, internal medicine, neuro/critical care medicine.
My computational lab is the strokeinnovationlab.ca also known as the "AI4QI Lab," where he pioneered the #AI4QI approach—leveraging artificial intelligence for quality improvement initiatives in healthcare. Specific use of voice as a biomarker for dysphagia screening. We are working on organization-facing AI solutions that help QI efforts and patient safety through SOP and protocol development. The lab's research portfolio includes AI-powered standardization of clinical protocols, machine learning applications to transform care delivery for both patients and clinical teams, and the development of voice biomarker analysis for early detection and monitoring of stroke-associated dysphagia and other neurological diseases affecting swallowing.
My quality improvement methodology integrates human factors and simulation-based approaches with advanced AI technologies, demonstrating practical pathways for healthcare organizations to implement innovation. I lead with a team-based approach to quality improvement initiatives and am invited to speak on the practical applications of AI in neurological care and quality improvement.
