A man turned himself in to authorities in Buffalo on Monday morning in connection with the shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd outside a Midtown Manhattan restaurant last month, according to law enforcement officials.
The man surrendered with his attorney, authorities said. Police have not released the man’s name or announced any charges.
Boyd, 29, was shot in the stomach early on Nov. 16 outside Sei Less, an Asian fusion restaurant near West 38th Street and Seventh Avenue, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny. The bullet lodged in his pulmonary artery.
He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical but stable condition. Boyd reportedly checked himself back into the hospital last week, citing ongoing health concerns.

Boyd was with two other Jets players, wide receiver Irvin Charles and linebacker Jamien Sherwood, and a friend from Texas when a group of men outside the restaurant mocked their clothing as they walked in, Kenny said.
After the group spent 10 to 12 minutes inside, the men resumed the taunts, and a fight broke out, officials said. That’s when gunfire erupted, according to police.

Between 50 and 60 people were gathered outside and scattered when the shooting began, Kenny said. The Jets players told police they were defending themselves.
Investigators identified two vehicles of interest that sped out of a garage, busting through the gate, Kenny said. The shooter got into a white BMW and fled the scene.
Police said four to five people were in the group that started the fight. The shooter fired two shots from a 9mm handgun, according to Kenny.
Detectives used facial recognition to identify witnesses and the drivers of the two vehicles outside the restaurant. A Crime Stoppers tip also led investigators to the suspect’s social media account, Kenny said.
Police also recovered a $185,000 watch at the scene. As of Monday, no one had come forward to claim it.
Kenny described the area outside the restaurant as being filled with luxury cars at the time of the shooting.
Boyd signed with the Jets in March and has been on the injured reserve list since suffering a shoulder injury during practice in August.
