Sitting in the glow of Christmas lights is happiness.

There is something about a Christmas tree in the corner of a darkened room, lights twinkerling that draws out nostalgia.

A nostalgia of times passed.

Some say on social media that millennials have a developed a Christmas habit of sitting in the dark with the Christmas lights on.

I do this, as I believe, many millennials do, become a habit of nostalgia for our childhoods.

Which is understable, Christmas is the one time of year that connects us to years gone by, childhood and relatives all feel near if they are gone.

It’s connects us to our childhood self, and the promises that come with that.

In a world where everything is speeding up, a Christmas tree with lights on feels like a statement rooted in tradition.

It almost feels a rebellion against late-stage capitalism and technological distraction.

There no subscription payment for the baubles, no free trial period for the lights. It’s stripped of the modern hellscape of

The Christmas decoration also teach us that art, creativity and culture are all vital in our well being and mood and the tree lit up signals this.

For all and many reasons sitting in a dark room with a tree is something that is beautiful, nostalgic and roots us into our pasts in a world that feels ever more disconnected.

A darkened room with Christmas lights hold promise and stillness.

So turn off the big light, find a comfy seat and let your eyes drink in the Christmas tree.

Because the glow of a Christmas Tree feels like an Act Of Rebellion, it also feels like home.
