I mean it’s realistic and slow burning. Plus the suspense is incredible when it hits. As for the horror aspects, well, Half of them work. It’s a bit too easy to compare this movie to a shorter, less fun take, on Evil Dead Rise. I understand Ms. Bowman was aiming for a more grim approach, and she achieves it by playing it 100% straight.
Even if it still feels like a fairly generic (and purposely bland) slasher for the most part.
