A preliminary study of people with diabetes suggests that use of glucose-lowering GLP-1 drugs may be linked to a lower risk of developing epilepsy. The study was published in Neurology.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, or GLP-1 drugs, have been used for diabetes and weight loss.

The study does not prove that GLP-1 drugs lower the risk of developing epilepsy; it only shows an association.
