Austrian Julia Scheib picked up her second World Cup giant slalom win of the season and her career in Tremblant, Canada on Sunday.
New Zealand skier Alice Robinson was going for a third straight giant slalom victory, but she could only place third overall having topped the timesheets in the first leg.
The 24-year-old won in Tremblant on Saturday having also taken the giant slalom in Copper Mountain last weekend. Scheib had crashed through a gate in Saturday’s first run but learnt from her mistake.
"To win this race is incredible," Scheib said.
"After yesterday, it was not that easy. I had it in my mind in the first run in this mid-section where I went out yesterday and I was a little bit on the safe side.
"In the second (leg) it was totally different. I knew I had to attack more, and it was a really good run."
Scheib won by 0.57 seconds from Sweden’s Olympic champion Sara Hector. Austria’s women had gone more than nine years without a win in the discipline but now have two victories this Olympic season thanks to Scheib.
US star Mikaela Shiffrin was joint-fourth with Swiss skier Camille Rast.
A men’s giant slalom took place in Beaver Creek, with Swiss star Marco Odermatt securing a second win in four days in Colorado.
The defending four-time World Cup champion won the first men’s downhill race of the season on Thursday and also finished on top in Sunday’s giant slalom for his 49th World Cup success.
He was 0.23 ahead of Italian Alex Vinatzer, with Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen third.
Vincent Kriechmayr of Austria had won the super-g on Friday.
The next men’s World Cup action is a giant slalom in Val d’Isere on Saturday. A women’s downhill is scheduled in St Moritz next Friday.
