Three people have died and three others were injured after a giant wave swept through a natural swimming pool on the western coast of the Spanish island of Tenerife, authorities said on Sunday.

Several people were dragged into the sea during the incident, and one person reported missing is still being sought, the Canary Islands emergency services said.

Authorities said the confirmed fatalities include two men and a woman. One of the men was 35, the woman 55, while the age of the third victim has not yet been disclosed. No further identifying details were released.

A woman suffered cardiac arrest during the incident at the cliffs of Los Gigantes in the Santiago del Teide area but was resuscitated by paramedics and airlifted to a hospital.
