A powerful voice emerges in response to a high-profile Netflix series about Sean "Diddy" Combs — and what she says could change how the story is seen.

Janice Combs, the mother of music icon Sean "Diddy" Combs, has fired back at Netflix’s docuseries "Sean Combs: The Reckoning," calling it false, misleading, and harmful to her family.

In a statement to Deadline, she accused the four-part series of twisting facts about her and her son.

Janice said she wanted to "correct some of the lies presented" in the Netflix docuseries, which premiered on December 2, 2025. The series covers Diddy’s rise to fame and his legal downfall. But Janice is pushing back against what she sees as false portrayals. She added:

"These inaccuracies regarding my son Sean’s upbringing and family life [are] intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation."

She also strongly denied a claim made by Kirk Burrows, a former Bad Boy Records executive. Kirk alleged Diddy slapped his mother during a conversation following the 1991 City College tragedy, where nine people died, and dozens were injured. Janice said:

"That was a very sad day for all of us...For him to use this tragedy and incorporate fake narratives to further his prior failed and current attempt to gain what was never his, Bad Boy Records, is wrong, outrageous and past offensive."

She also rejected comments from Tim Patterson, another former associate, "In the documentary, I am portrayed as an abusive parent. This is untrue," she clarified, adding that she was a single mother who worked as many as three or four jobs to give her son a good life and education. She said she raised Diddy with love and dedication, not abuse.

Janice called the documentary "salacious" and accused Netflix of using her family’s pain for ratings. She also questioned why rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, who served as an executive producer, was involved. She then directed a request to the streaming giant:

"I am requesting that these distortions, falsehoods and misleading statements be publicly retracted."

Netflix has not responded to Janice’s statement. But a spokesperson previously defended the project, "This is not a hit piece or an act of retribution. Curtis Jackson is an executive producer but does not have creative control. No one was paid to participate."

Diddy, 56, is serving a four-year sentence at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey. He was convicted in July 2025 on federal RICO charges involving prostitution. He’s still under investigation in Los Angeles for sexual battery and faces multiple civil lawsuits.

According to Deadline, Janice last visited her son just before Thanksgiving. He’s eligible for release in June 2028, with a fast-track appeal underway.
