Alex Pereira is already one of the most decorated fighters in the UFC, but now he wants a legacy fight that would separate him from the pack.
The Brazilian is currently in his second reign as light-heavyweight champion, and has also held middleweight gold in the promotion. And as his career winds down, he is eyeing one last effort at history by moving up to heavyweight.
Should he make that daunting move in weight class, Pereira has two main fights in which he is interested. The first is a super-fight with legendary two-weight champion Jon Jones, while his second choice is to fight for the title, which as of right now would mean fighting Tom Aspinall.

“I spoke about my interest, right?” Pereira said when asked about the situation at the top of heavyweight. “I want to fight at heavyweight, but I don’t know… I mentioned the White House against Jon Jones.
“And I’ve even spoken about a possible fight at heavyweight for a third belt. But I don’t know, it’s not in my control. I’m also just waiting, like everyone else. “
What do both of Pereira’s rivals think about the fight?
As of right now, there couldn’t be two situations less similar than those of Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. Once on a collision course to fight one another in a monumental world title unification, they have never seemed further apart.

Aspinall is currently out with what seems to be a pretty severe eye injury after being poked in both eyes by Ciryl Gane during their October meeting at UFC 321. In a recent update, he claimed that he is still unable to train and that he has yet to even consider a return to fighting.
Meanwhile, since deciding to come out of retirement for the UFC White House event, Jones has been literally begging Dana White to bring him back. And a super-fight with Pereira may be just the thing that makes it happen.
