LeBron’s run of double-digit scoring games might have ended, but if anything, it was the perfect backdrop for another one of his comeback performances.
He finished with 29 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in just 34 minutes. More importantly, he scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, including a stretch where he poured in 10 straight to give the Lakers some breathing room.
Lakers fans took notice as James brought out both his iconic crown celebration and the silencers during that fourth-quarter surge.
Social media lit up with reactions from supporters, who were quick to push back on any talk of decline.
“King James taking over like a legend,” one fan wrote.
Another added: “People told me he’s washed?”
There were plenty of others piling on.
“We just got real LeBron back,” another declared. And someone else said: “Don’t take LeBron James for granted.”
A fifth fan posted: “Some things never change.”
James did not just handle business on offence. In the game’s final moments, he came up with a crucial steal to seal the win for Los Angeles. It was yet another reminder that even as new stars emerge across the league, the four-time NBA champion still has plenty left in the tank when it matters most.
Luka Doncic reacts to LeBron James’ fourth-quarter takeover
There have been whispers of tension between LeBron and Doncic even before the 2025-26 NBA season tipped off, but that narrative did not show up in their post-game interactions.
Instead, Doncic was quick to praise the 40-year-old’s fourth-quarter performance against the Sixers.
“That was amazing. That was vintage Bron, we were happy he was there to save us. He had an amazing game. Obviously, an amazing fourth quarter,” Doncic told reporters after the game.
This is only James’ seventh game of the season, and already his form looks sharper than ever as he approaches his 41st birthday in December.
