President Trump on Monday lashed out at an ABC News reporter after she pressed him on his comments about controversial military strikes on alleged drug boats, marking the latest instance in recent weeks of the president criticizing a female journalist.
ABC’s Rachel Scott asked Trump whether he would direct Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to release video of a second strike that targeted the remains of a boat on Sept. 2 after he said last week he would have “no problem” releasing the footage.
“I didn’t say that. You said that, I didn’t say that,” Trump said, disputing the premise.
After Scott pressed Trump on the matter, the president derided her as “the most obnoxious reporter in the whole place.”

“Let me just tell you, you are an obnoxious – a terrible, actually a terrible reporter. And it’s always the same thing with you. I told you, whatever Pete Hegseth wants to do is OK with me,” Trump said.
Trump has clashed with Scott before, including last year during a National Association of Black Journalists event during the 2024 campaign.
Monday also marks yet another instance of Trump lashing out at a female reporter.
During a gaggle with reporters aboard Air Force One last month, Trump shushed a Bloomberg News journalist by telling her, “Quiet, piggy.” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt brushed off those comments as an example of the president’s frankness.
The president on Truth Social attacked a female New York Times reporter who co-authored a piece about his schedule and whether he is showing signs of fatigue as “ugly, both inside and out.”
And Trump on Thanksgiving asked CBS News correspondent Nancy Cordes if she was a “stupid person” after Cordes asked Trump about vetting procedures for Afghan nationals following a shooting in Washington, D.C.
