What is it? A peacock?
We’ve had two presentation club meetings so far. This is how it’s gone:
What has worked**: the basic idea**
I screwed up the tech for the first one, which was annoying, but I think the basic idea worked.
- Someone practised a presentation.
- They got useful and supportive feedback.
- We all learned a little bit about how to do a good presentation these days.
And the same happened at the second one. And it was fun. Thank you to everyone who participated.

What didn’t work**: too many men**
We’ve had two presenters so far and they were both (white, middle-aged) men. And we’ve got two volunteers for the next one and they are both (white, middle-aged) men. (And they’ve both said they don’t want to do it if it’s all men, which is good.)
What’s next?
I know from Interesting that I get roughly ten men volunteering for everyone one woman. Which means to get any kind of balance I have to ask a lot of people and reject a lot of men. (Nicely, obviously). It’s worth it, it makes for a lot better event.
So my next step is to ask a lot more people if they’d like to present. Including you. Do you have a presentation you’d like to practise? Please let me know. The next session is January 7th. 7pm UK time.
If we only have men we’ll cancel and try again the following month. Which is OK. It’ll work out eventually. I really think there’s something in this idea, so I’m committed to plodding on and making it work.
