Sinterit announced a new SLS learning program — and it’s available free of charge.
The Polish company has been producing low cost SLS 3D printing equipment for many years, but now faces stiff competition, mainly from Formlabs. The Polish company has been producing low cost SLS 3D printing equipment for many years, but now faces stiff competition, mainly from Formlabs. One of their fellow competitors, Sintratec, gave up entirely and folded earlier because of the intense competition. https://www.fabbaloo.com/news/sintratec-shuts-down-operations-after-a-decade-in-the-3d-printing-industry
Sinterit continues on, however, and one of the interesting steps they’ve taken is to introduce a new learning program they call the “Sinterit Academy”. It’s a free program that anyone can join, and it includes three modules:
- Fundamentals to learn about SLS 3D printing
- Business to understand how SLS 3D printing can fit into existing or new workflows
- Engineers to gain more advanced knowledge of the technology
As an example, this is the list of topics in the Fundamentals module:
- **What is 3D Printing and How Is It Transforming Production?**History, core concepts, and the impact of additive manufacturing on industries worldwide.
- Compare the Core Technologies: FDM, SLA, SLS Simple overview of how each technology works, what they’re best for, and how to choose the right one.
- How SLS Works: The Magic of Powder and Laser: An intuitive explanation of the SLS printing process, step by step.
- SLS Materials: Powders and Their Key Properties: Types of powders, mechanical characteristics, and how they influence final parts.
- **From Idea to Printed Part: **A practical walk-through of the entire workflow: preparation, printing, post-processing.
- **Most Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them: **Troubleshooting for beginners to help you get reliable results from day one.
- **SLS vs Other Technologies: **When SLS surpasses FDM and SLA in quality, durability, or cost efficiency.
- **Real-World Use Cases of SLS: **Examples from industry, education, medicine, automotive, and more.
- **The Sinterit Ecosystem: **How Sinterit printers, powders, software, and accessories work together as a complete solution.
- **Your First Steps in the SLS World: **Summary and guidance on next steps—including which track to take next.
Sinterit said the program lasts ten days — this is not just a typical webinar — and provides quite a few deliverables:
- Practical guides, videos, infographics, and case studies
- Insights based on 10+ years of real SLS experience
- Knowledge about materials, workflows applications, and design
- Access to a private LinkedIn community
- Invitation to exclusive expert live Q&A session
- A certificate of completion
Obviously this program will be focused on Sinterit’s products, particularly in certain steps. However, as you can see there are plenty of nonaligned topics that would be of interest to anyone new to SLS technology.
This is a bit of a risk for Sinterit, as they may find participants aren’t necessarily buying their equipment, and there’s a fair amount of resources expended on the program. On the other hand, it does provide a way for the company to reach people that just might eventually buy a Sinterit system.
If you’re curious about SLS 3D print technology and have the time to learn more about it, the Sinterit Academy might be a good place to start.
