The 27-inch monitor uses a high-quality IPS panel that not only supports 1ms (GtG) response times, but also has solid color reproduction, sporting 94% of DCI-P3 and 123% of sRGB color spaces. So not only is the monitor incredibly fast, its wide color gamut is helpful for other color-accurate uses like photo and video editing. It’s VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, too. While not the best HDR rating, it’s still solid for the price and the panel’s speed.
Additionally, it’s AMD FreeSync Premium certified, which prevents screen tearing and stuttering, akin to Nvidia’s G-Sync. Also has Flicker-free technology, which ASRock says eliminates flicker and minimizes eyestrain, along with their Low Blue Light Technology, which reduces harmful blue light emitted by the monitor (adjustable from 1-10).
The Phantom Gaming PG27FFX1B’s design looks the part of an esports monitor. It’s simple with ultra-thin bezels on the top and sides, and includes an ergonomic stand with tilt adjustment to optimize your viewing angle. Connectivity on the rear consists of two HDMI (v2.1) and a single DisplayPort (v1.4) for outputs. There are also two USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack to round out the typical connectivity options. It also has standard 100mm VESA mounting points if you need to attach your monitor to an arm.
Overall, we like this monitor for its incredibly fast 520Hz refresh rate and its IPS panel, which delivers better color than less expensive VA panels. if you’re a competitive gamer who doesn’t like to see screen tearing and likes the larger 1080p panel (I prefer the higher DPI in 24-inch, 1920x1080), ASRock’s Phantom Gaming PG27FF1XB monitor, at $237.99, is on sale at its lowest price ever at 55% ($292!!) off and is a great deal for a substantial upgrade for those on smaller, slower refresh rate monitors.
