Almost exactly a year ago, I got my first TrimUI Brick. Yes, you’ve read that right, there is more than one. More on that in a sec. A year ago, I got a black Trimui Brick and immediately became my favorite everyday carry and gaming device. But like everything in my life, well, not everything, but a lot of times when I find something I like, and it works so well, I tend to buy different versions of the same thing, like pants, shoes, and in this case, Trimui Bricks.
Months after acquiring the black Brick, I got a white one! Not only because I wanted another color, but the black one is more prone to finger marks, that dont go away, and it was bothering me. I liked these two colors so much that at times I couldn’t decide which one to use, but be…

Months after acquiring the black Brick, I got a white one! Not only because I wanted another color, but the black one is more prone to finger marks, that dont go away, and it was bothering me. I liked these two colors so much that at times I couldn’t decide which one to use, but because they are both using the same software, it’s just a matter of swapping SD cards, and I am good to go.
A few months later, and in a very impulsive buy, enter the Purple one! Yes, I got a third one; however, I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. I was ready to return it, but Marley fell in love with it, so it became her dedicated retro gaming doodad. A different setup than my daily drivers, she has way fewer games, just the ones she requested.
So, 3 Bricks, a black one, for which the volume down button doesn’t work, so adjusting volume or brightness has to be done via hotkeys. The white one has a dead pixel, which is only visible against a white background, and many of the Pokémon games I play, as you know, feature empty white battle scenes. The Purple has no issues whatsoever, so far.
So, almost a year to the date of getting my first Brick, and in *another *impulsive buy, I got a fourth one, the Trimui Brick Hammer! I have been curious about this variation for a while. It is the same as the other 3 Bricks, but metal. The regular Brick has only one Metal piece, and that’s the back panel; this one is a whole metal shell. So it feels a lot more premium and sturdy. Other than that, it’s got the same internals and the same performance. And this has become my new favorite thing. My trusty emotional companion.
At this point, I think I’m good with getting any more bricks, at least as of today.
