Samsung Exynos 2600, with the all-new AMD RDNA4 GPU tech, marks a clear shift in the company’s flagship smartphone strategy. The new mobile chip fixes the most commonly reported concerns with the Exynos. It brings upgraded performance, better efficiency, and is built on an advanced 2nm node. All of these changes put the new processor into direct competition with rival flagship chips.
Samsung Exynos 2600 brings AMD’s RDN4 GPU tech for top-notch gaming performance
The new Samsung Exynos 2600 chipset packs the Xclipse 960 GPU. It uses the FX4 architecture based on AMD’s RDNA4 technology. The latest technology allows the chipset to improve performance per compute while also keeping power usage under control. Each workgroup processor includes two compute units, allowing the GPU to process graphics tasks more efficiently. That’s not all, the Xclipse 960 also features eight workgroup processors and a total of sixteen compute units.
The Exynos 2600 is designed to handle modern mobile games and advanced visual effects with ease. Moreover, the GPU has a claimed clock speed of 980MHz, which is a bit lower than the Xclipse 950 used in the Exynos 2500. However, despite this, the company claims that the successor delivers a huge performance boost.
It brings improved gaming performance, better power usage, and much more
As per Samsung, the new Exynos 2600 delivers up to 2X the graphics performance of its predecessor. It also claims about 50% better ray tracking support. All of this combined should result in a much better gaming performance. We should expect better frame rates, power management, fluent gameplay, and most importantly, better lighting effects in demanding mobile titles.
Samsung had started its GPU partnership with AMD back in 2019. The Exynos 2200 was the first mobile chipset to feature RDNA2-powered graphics. Further, the Exynos 2400 and Exynos 2500 followed with the MGFX3 designs developed jointly by both companies. And with the latest Exynos 2600, Samsung has taken over the GPU development part while also using the RDNA4’s core architecture.
