Booked our one-way flights & learned that we can’t easily manage our cats’ flights, so I’m interviewing pet relocation people now ($5000+ 💸, the most complex1 and expensive part of this whole move).
Also ordered 30-inch suitcases. We are fitting our whole lives into these.
I accepted the new job offer. (The contract terms were non-negotiable but they increased the salary to my asking.) My new salary is half my current salary (but competitive for the IC role + local market). I think we’ll be be fine with the lower cost of living and public healthcare. Most important: I’ll be employed and I think I’ll get along well with my new team…

E had an upper endoscopy, and now we have answers. He’s been prescribed new medication and is feeling better. On my end, my respiratory issues didn’t fully clear, so I’m on a longer course of antibiotics (doxycycline) and prednisone now. My doctor says I have "unfavorable anatomy" and I’m seriously considering getting the balloon procedure. (I’ve had chronic respiratory issues for more than a decade and I just want relief!)
Since I will need to work in the office again, I’m refreshing my skincare and makeup. Being socially presentable is so much work (bras and now this, roar). I’m a lot paler than I used to be, so my complexion makeup needs replacement. I’ve been visiting shops to sample concealers, tints, and foundations, but haven’t found anything yet.
I think a large part of the complexity is that there isn’t a direct flight. I’ve learned that we don’t want to go through London and that Amsterdam (or Frankfurt) is the best for transporting pets to Europe.↩
