When did I start blogging?
AI generated summary: I recently looked into my blogging history and realized I started much earlier than I thought! My first blog post dates back to June 2014, when I was 15, making this my 12th year of blogging.
When I rewrote my “About Me” page some days ago, I was thinking about how long I’ve already been blogging. My thought was 2016, so about 10 years. But reading about another blog birthday piqued my interest again, and I did some more research.
One of my first projects was “appydroid,” an “open-source online news magazine about Android apps.” I was very much into Android app programming back then, downloaded and tried countless apps, and also posted on Google+ about it (who still remembers Google+?). I learned that it’s possible to …

I learned that it’s possible to get free “.tk” domains (RIP) and wanted to create my own site, but wanted to allow others to submit stories as well. Shortly after, I moved to a paid “.eu” domain (and from GitHub pages to WordPress), which I still own today. That one was registered in March 2016.
After some more research, though, I found this article in the Wayback Machine from July 2015 explaining why I loved Medium, and at that time I had already accumulated 300 followers on an Android-focused “publication” on Medium (so even before the appydroid times).
Just another round of research revealed that I once had a blog for one of my apps (just a simple notepad app) on Blogger (on a blogspot.com subdomain) even before that. It was 2014! A closer look at one of the pages that are still archived shows that the first post on that blog must be from June 2014, shortly after I was 15 years old. So I just take that as my blogging birth!
Taking that date, it’s already the 12th year I am blogging. The oldest post still alive on this blog is this one from October 2016. The domain I am currently using was registered in March 2019. One of my first websites I published was in February 2010 on a subdomain of my high school, created with Microsoft Publisher.
