Magnascoping
Magnascoping or Magnascopic Cyphering is the process by which a Gene-Lord attempts to predict the moving Magnafissures surrounding the world. This rudimentary extraction of environmental information involves a mutant using multiple baubles and trinkets, special grounding rods and probing tethers in an attempt to discern the movement of the magnetosphere. This undertaking is fraught with multiple technical and scientific issues and prone to failure as they become a large magnet for environmental effects such as a build up of static electricity, currents of radioactive pooling, gale force winds and more.
While the technique is inherently dangerous the multiple moving parts make accurate readings difficult to say the least and this of course doesn’t account for the stress of trying to do this under a hail of fire, though most warbands would never target a character during the process as it is considered an unholy act to do so. Besides if an enemy warband sees their opposition pack up and leave after a successful Magnascopic Cypher they are likely to pack it in as well as no feud is worth suffering the destruction of a Solar Storm.
THE DECK
At the beginning of a game players will shuffle and cut a 54 card deck. This deck is called the Solar Storm deck. At the beginning of the first round a player will flip the top card of the deck face up. The present card will have a correlating section on the Magnascopic Chart. At the beginning of the round the Leaders of each warband must take a Magnascopic Cypher check by making the relevant 6+ Difficulty check which is the Stat or Expertise associated with the Effect Level on the chart. If the check is a success there is no affect. If the check is a failure it triggers a Timing Estimate (see timer for more details). After players resolve the card’s effects the players will discard that card drawing a new one at the beginning of the following round.
