My youngest son has finally taken up my advice to start working out. What prompted his change was seeing his friend’s workout results. Over the weekend, we did basic movements to set the base line.
My advice to him is to be consistent. There is no point doing difficult movements to risk injuries and frustrations. For him to see results, he has to be mindful of his daily choices.
He has to cut out junk food and prioritise nutrition in his diet. Whenever this is a chance, always take the stairs. Schedule his days for exercise and sleep. This also means reducing his screen time. He laughed; he now always has to pick the harder option.
I think it is a profound remark - always pick the harder option. Any good results which are worthwhile are through a series of hard options. Whether is it is learning something, accumulating wealth or having good health, we have to take the harder options to stay on the path. Doing things that are tough but allowing us to be better when done.
If you are bored, find yourself in a crossroad. Ask yourself, which is the more difficult option? Always choose the harder option.
