As ***Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 ***skulks into theaters on December 5, 2025, those unwilling to pay hard-earned cash to watch the PG-13 slasher sequel on the big screen may want to consider the streaming options. After all, despite promising to ramp up the onscreen carnage, the movie has been eviscerated by critics, earning an abysmal 13% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Yet, with an 88% audience score, watching the teen horror flick at home with a group of friends may be a good way to enjoy the video game adaptation. Fortunately, details about FNAF 2’s streaming availability on Peacock are beginning to come into focus. Here’s everything to know about how, when, and where to stream Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 in the cozy confines of your living space.
What Is ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ About?
Following the surprise 2023 horror hit Five Nights at Freddy’s, screenwriter Scott Cawthon and director Emma Tammi return for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Cawthon created the video game series on which the movie franchise is based, with the 2025 sequel inspired by the game Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Set one year after the events of the first movie, FNAF 2 tracks Abby Schmidt (Piper Rubio), the young sister of Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson), the embattled security guard at the children’s funhouse eatery Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
As occurred in the first game and film, the PG-13 horror sequel cranks up when a deadly gaggle of giant animatronic toys comes to life and goes on a rampage inside the pizza parlor. Despite the fun, fairly inventive conceit, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has been lambasted for the same reasons as its predecessor. Namely, the lack of scary onscreen carnage and a jumble of confusing subplots undermine the polished production values and effective animatronic monsters.
But quality be damned. FNAF earned a net profit of over $160 million for Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures (via Deadline). With over $7 million earned in Thursday previews, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is on pace to be nearly as successful as the first film despite being shredded by critics. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 holds a 13% on Rotten Tomatoes, down significantly from the original’s 33%.
Yet, despite the poor quality and lack of genuine terror, Five Nights at Freddy’s and its sequel have an amusing midnight-movie quality that makes for an ideal watch with friends, with more rooting for the creative deaths than for the heroes’ survival. That appeal will remain true when the movie becomes available for streaming on Peacock.
When Will ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ Stream on Peacock?
Universal Pictures
Although Peacock has yet to announce when Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will be added to the streaming platform, examining Blumhouse Productions’ previous streaming schedule may hold some clues. Those who want to watch the film as soon as possible must go to the movie theater when it opens on December 5.
After a film is released theatrically, Blumhouse usually makes its movies available to rent or purchase two to three weeks later. For example, in 2025, Blumhouse Productions’ horror films The Black Phone 2, M3GAN 2.0, and* Wolf Man* were all made available to rent or buy 18 days after their theatrical debuts. That places **FNAF 2 up for purchase or rent just in time for Christmas on December 23, 2025, or thereabouts.
But what about streaming? Similar to Blumhouse’s rent/purchase timeline, movies released by the production company typically become available to stream about 90 days after their theatrical release. Wolf Man was added to Peacock 91 days after hitting the big screen, while M3GAN 2.0 was added to the streamer 92 days after its theatrical release. Although Black Phone 2 has yet to be announced, the prevailing wisdom, based on recent trends, suggests it will stream on Peacock around mid-January.
Based on these patterns, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is likely to stream on Peacock around March 5–7, 2026, roughly 90 days after its theatrical release. Whether the film overcomes its poor reviews and retains enough interest to become as big a streaming hit as it is a theatrical one remains to be seen. But at least horror fans have an idea of when they’ll be able to watch Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 at home later this winter.
