– Dr. Pichet Nongchang, Secretary-General of the National Institute for Emergency Medicine (NIEMS) – Dr. Piyaporn Tipyarat, Director of Bangkok Hospital Pattaya – Representatives of Jomtien Hospital – Mr. Prasit Thongthitjaroen, Chairman of Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation Pattaya
As one of the world’s leading beach destinations that welcomes millions of Thai and international tourists year-round, Pattaya has placed top priority on equipping local people and tourism workers with correct emergency response skills.

The full-day programme, jointly organised by Pattaya City, NIEMS, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, Jomtien Hospital and Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation, provided hands-on training in:
– Basic Life Support (BLS) – Proper emergency notification procedures – Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on adult, child and infant manikins – Use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs)
Medical teams, nurses and rescue volunteers from the partner organisations guided participants in small groups, using real medical equipment and simulation manikins to ensure everyone could confidently perform the techniques in a real emergency.

Mayor Poramese Ngampichet stated: “Pattaya is not only a fun destination but must also be a safe one. When tourists and residents know that people around them can help in the critical first minutes of a cardiac arrest or other emergency, it builds enormous confidence. Today we trained over 2,000 frontline tourism workers and citizens – together we are turning Pattaya into a city that is safe and reassuring 24 hours a day.”
The “CPR on The Beach” initiative is now in its latest annual edition and has become a flagship example of cooperation between local government, hospitals and rescue organisations to raise safety standards across the resort city.

With today’s mass training complete, Pattaya officials say the city is another major step closer to its vision of being a global beach destination where visitors can relax knowing help is always close at hand.
