Last week, Netflix Thailand announced Rebecca ‘Becky’ Armstrong as the new ‘Nanno’ from the hit series “Girl From Nowhere,” in a blood-splattered iteration of what appears to be a Thai high school uniform.
The artistic direction of the psychotic hit series has been a notable inspiration for many modern Thai directors. Drawing from this visual legacy, lighting, location, hair and costume came together to complete the work as a cohesive whole.
In an interview with Maytawin Ritkhajonana owner of "Eye Of Providence Atelier" and Tin Tunsopol owner of "post-thesis" that collaborated on the first look of Becky’s Nanno, we delved into the reimagination of the mundane. The pair have also collaborated on outfits for “The Rebirth Of Yuri” from the second season of the series.

The Reset’s concept is a continuation from the overall identity of the series, but just with a different approach. In season 2, an all-black leather ensemble was worn by Chicha “Kitty” Amatayakul. But in this year’s revival, Becky’s character wore a predominantly white dress to signify angelic aspects of Nanno’s nature, which is also the core identity of the designer’s post-thesis brand — structured uniforms with a whimsical twist.

“It’s a different version of Nanno, which already presents a challenge — reimagining Becky’s character in a way we’ve never seen before. Darker and more sinister yet still playing with her quirky innocence. We have to reveal a different kind of fun and beauty.”
Following a Yin and Yang approach, the outfits emerge from two parallel universes within the series. Becky and Kitty’s Nannos are the same characters, yet each realm allows them to express their personalities in distinct ways. Different worlds, but both remain rooted in the shared essence of Nanno.
In today’s fashion landscape, the act of construction has increasingly migrated from the worktable to the screen. Observing how Maytawin develops patterns digitally, I was curious to learn how technology restructures the contemporary design process for such an ensemble.

“Modern software and pattern drafting programmes significantly speeds up our workflow. The 3D simulation helps us visualise how the fabric — up to 18 metres in length — will drape and move. This way, we can catch any mistakes before cutting the actual fabric, ensuring that the final piece is flawless.”
"Girl From Nowhere: The Reset" is scheduled to premiere on March 7. Fans are anticipating that the reset’s new actor will redefine the trajectory of the modern cult-favourited series.
“It’s about learning the rules — and then breaking them. The symbolism lies in wearing a student uniform as a catalyst for change, while incorporating a sense of fantasy drawn from Nanno’s lore.”
