Capcom announced the Mega Man: Dual Override Boss Design Art Contest via the Mega Man social media channel this week. From now until January 1, 2026, fans can submit their ideas for Robot Masters. Capcom has a theme for this one: The Robot Master must have "a right arm with immense suction powers." Capcom will pick a total of six entries from the overall submissions that will receive Excellence Awards and credits in Dual Override, but one submission will be picked from the six to be turned into a functional Robot Master in the game.

Boss art contests have a long history in the Mega Man series that began in 1988 with Mega Man 2. Capcom has offered the contest in some form with many of its games, at least until Mega Man 8 in the mainline series. Sometimes the developers do the whole roster of Robot Masters from fan submissions, while other times we just see one or two make it in. The contest was MIA for Mega Man 9, 10, and 11.
With Mega Man: Dual Override planned for launch in 2027 and the Boss Art Contest back in play, it’s a great time to be a Mega Man fan. If you want to get in, be sure to follow the rules and submit your own design before January 1. Otherwise, stay tuned to the Mega Man series topic for news and updates.
