There’s not much in the way of conflating Lily Collins’s own personal style with that of her indomitable, outré lead character Emily Cooper of Emily in Paris. There’s not much in the way of conflating Lily Collins’s own personal style with that of her indomitable, outré lead character Emily Cooper of Emily in Paris. Collins has established a classic, polished, and low-key aesthetic: off-duty, you’ll see her dressed in distressed Acne leather jackets and straight-leg denim with a novelty cap and adidas sneakers, while out for events, she’ll opt for monochromatic Calvin Klein sets and sleek, black Versace tailoring. Midwestern marketing executive Emily, on the other hand, is eager to dress and brand-agnostic, with her rainbow suite of berets, arpeggiating hemlines, and clashing prints as neutrals. With season five of Emily in Paris fast approaching, Collins could go one of two ways with her press tour wardrobe.
Or is there a third way? Last night (December 9), the actor stopped by Jimmy Fallon to promote the Netflix TV show, opting to wear a black slip dress with sheer nude and striped panelling, picked from the Fendi fall 1997 collection, then designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Look 80 from the show, it was a season focused on dark and gothic, clingy gowns juxtaposed with sumptuous fuzzy textures, leathers, and velvets. Collins opted to style it faithfully to the runway look, though she swapped out the white furry stole for a feathery black jacket and patent knee-high black leather boots, adding a bright red Fendi baguette bag as a little pop of color.

The rest of the look was textbook Lily Collins, sticking to her classic style of glam with a nude lip, signature strong eyebrows, and smoky eyeshadow, as well as a glossy, chin-length bob with a middle part. Overall, it felt like it hit Collins’s sartorial sensibilities—a sleek and controlled kind of sensual—and pushed the bolder beats of Emily Cooper.
Styled by Andrew Mukamal, it was an elegant and restrained take on the enduring naked dressing trend—Mukamal is a pro at giving the trend an elevated spin, having dressed Margot Robbie in that diamond-encrusted, barely-there nude Armani Privé couture (complete with beaded thong) gown while she was promoting A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. Elsewhere, the likes of Anya Taylor-Joy—styled by Law Roach—continues to experiment and revamp the sheer red carpet look—with the actor looking to Haider Ackermann’s smartly sexy vision at Tom Ford.

Later, Collins stepped out in contemporary Fendi, opting for a strapless, jewel-toned mini-dress with a peplum layer from the Resort 2026 (peplums really are making staking their claim in festive party season), which she paired with Cartier Trinity earrings, super sheer tights, and black satin pumps with a delicate ankle strap from Aquazurra. This felt more Emily Cooper-coded. (Complimentary!)
The next season of Emily in Paris will land on December 18, just in time for Christmas.
