It’s that time of the year again! By which I mean it’s time for our annual Vogue Runway industry poll. Of course, this has been no ordinary year in fashion: We’ve never seen more comings-and-goings, and it’s not over yet, as Thursday’s shocker that Dario Vitale is out at Versace has made clear. Our results were in well before the announcement about his exit—not that the news would shake the kind of enthusiasm shown by the writers and editors, stylists, publicists, content creators, and multi-hyphenate types who participated in our poll. As you’ll see below, they put Vitale near the top in two important categories: Designer of the Year and Favorite Collection.…

Beyond the runways, which red carpet look made the biggest splash? Who is the stylist that out-styled them all? And what makes a supermodel now? Read on to find out!
Designer of the Year
In an entirely un-shocking turn of events, Matthieu Blazy was voted Designer of the Year. A fellow creative director got to the meat of it: “Matthieu [wins], for a very promising collection despite the overwhelming pressure.” Another was a bit more poetic, but just as on point, though they did share a minor quibble: “Matthieu Blazy (duh)—he went from intrecciato to bouclé without a hiccup, and the Chanel collection finally feels like it’s ready for the year [we’re living in], but will hold its own for long after that. But while the Charvet collab was fab, it doubled the prices on The RealReal, so, not great for me.” The runner-up was Jonathan Anderson, who was voted Designer of the Year in both 2024 and 2023.
Favorite Collection of 2025
“I know, I know, you’ve been hearing this across the board but let’s face it, it’s true.” Yes, ladies and gentlemen, in addition to naming Matthieu Blazy the Designer of the Year, your favorite collection of 2025 was his debut for Chanel.
Trailing not far behind, though, was Dario Vitale’s tantalizing first outing for Versace (this poll was conducted before his exit from the company was announced last week). “I loved that Dario Vitale went for broke with an audacious, naughty vision,” one editor told us, while a special projects director, who is also a very good writer, noted: “Dario Vitale’s debut for Versace was polarizing in the most magical way—less a collection than a reawakened spirit. Gianni built an empire in the midst of the AIDS crisis by making fashion outrageous, fabulous, flamboyant—a burst of joy in a dark time—and Dario echoed that energy. In a landscape where most debuts exist to sell a handbag, this one felt like a true origin story revived: exhilarating, uncertain, and risky. It was as if Gianni himself lingered in the room and someone finally dusted off the cobwebs.” Now that Vitale is leaving, we’ll have to wait and see who will arrive at Versace to build anew.
The Most Underrated Designer Working Today
Give the man his flowers. If Julian Klausner’s Dries Van Noten debut women’s and men’s shows were quieter than many of the other launches we saw this year (partly because the very Driesian choices to have no celebrities and hardly any influencers in attendance), it’s not going out on a limb to say they’ve been more influential than most. Since he put sarongs on his first DVN men’s runway, they’ve been popping up just about everywhere, including in the pre-fall collections rolling out now. A stylist writes: “Julian Klausner, brilliant men’s and women’s shows and an incredible continuation of a beloved brand from founder to new creative director.”
Emerging Designer of the Year
There must be something in the water in New York. Your top three picks for emerging talent all hail from the Big Apple, with Ashlyn’s Ashlynn Park and Colleen Allen tied for first place, and Rachel Scott of Diotima and Proenza Schouler coming in third. We’re pretty crazy about our hometown talents, too. Park picked up the 2025 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s $300,000 Prize last month.
Stylist of the Year
For the past two years, our pollsters put Lotta Volkova at the top of this list. It’s easy to see why: Volkova’s work with Miuccia Prada at Miu Miu helped reignite the label and transcended the runway with one viral hit after another. This year, though, you’ve turned your attention to the red carpet. Danielle Goldberg, our 2025 Stylist of the Year, is the woman behind the wardrobes of some of today’s best-dressed celebrities, Greta Lee, Ayo Edebiri, and Zoë Kravitz included. Here’s what sealed the deal this year: Goldberg has been partnering with Jonathan Anderson and Matthieu Blazy to dress the likes of Lee and Edebiri since they were at Loewe and Bottega Veneta, respectively. Now that they’ve ascended to splashier platforms, they’ve brought their muses along with them (Lee is a Dior ambassador, Edebiri a Chanel one). Goldberg remains at the heart of it all.
Most Covetable Brand
This is a fun one, as the brief is two-sided: First, who makes the stuff you’re all dying for? And second, which label are you willing to shell out the big bucks for? This year saw a three-way tie between Miu Miu, Phoebe Philo, and The Row—no surprises here! Though there is one fun tidbit: Julian Klausner’s Dries Van Noten also made the cut; turns out it’s not just Klausner folks like, but his clothes, too.
Model of the Year
It’s been so. much. fun. to track the ascent of this new class of It-models: Alex Consani, Anok Yai, Paloma Elsesser, and their cohort are bringing back the Supermodel in a real way. This year, a new face joins their ranks. It’s Awar Odhiang, the model whose finale hug with Matthieu Blazy had the Chanel crowd on its feet. “Can it be anyone other than Awar?” a fellow editor asked. “Not just her beauty; her joy,” Hear, hear!
Best Red Carpet Moment
Speaking of Danielle Goldberg. And Jonathan Anderson. And Greta Lee. Your red carpet moment of the year was Lee’s turn in a custom mini dress from Anderson’s Dior at the 2025 Venice Film Festival. “Jonathan’s ability to bring new, contemporary, commercially viable life to such a well established heritage brand is his truest gift,” wrote a consultant. Lewis Hamilton’s Wales Bonner moment at the Met Gala came in a second.
The Upcoming Debut You Are Most Excited About
No such thing as debut fatigue with this crew! Your favorite new designer appointment is Grace Wales Bonner at Hermès, even though you’ll have to wait until January 2027 to see it.
Your Favorite Fashion Cliché
Favorite, in this case, means the cliché that frustrates you the most but also makes you chuckle. Everyone is guilty! Editors got some flack for their (er… our) tendency to being brats about seating arrangements. And when it comes to publicists, everyone seems to agree that hearing the words “full-look only” are the biggest of buzz kills. But the silliest cliché of all, according to our polltakers, has to be when designers say: “I design for a strong, independent woman.” Come on, people! Duh!
If you voted, thanks for playing! If you didn’t, but made it this far, thanks for reading! See you next year.
