At a glance, the twin-stick shooter is relatively simple. One stick handles movement, while the other aims, and shooting happens automatically. Yep. Simple. Only, we're not in 1982 anymore. Technology has progressed a lot since Robotron: 2084 blew everyone's minds, and the recently released Sektori is ready to claim the modern genre crown, fighting tooth and nail with its hard-hitting techno and flashy visuals.
Blink and you'll likely die in this one, as the fast pace requires absolute focus. Upgrades are plentiful, however, and that's a good thing as you're going to need them in order to blast your way through the nearly half a dozen worlds, not to mention all the boss encounters. Based on the trailer, I'd wager this is one of those where the end of a run is immediately followed by another, each blurring together into a kaleidoscope of colours and explosions.
With Sektori I wanted to create a shoot'em up where every run feels familiar, but is still completely unique. A game of skill, not memorization.
As for whether Sektori is in fact something that will "transport you into another state of consciousness", well, you'll just have to pick up a copy and play it to find out. As long as you're okay with those flashing lights, that is, since they do seem rather... intense. Much like the music. Did I mention the music? Okay. Well, in that case... Sektori hype!
Sektori is available on Steam, PS5, and Xbox.
