PeaZip, a versatile cross-platform open-source file archiver utility, has just unveiled its latest release, version 10.8, which now supports opening 242 file extensions.
The update expands preview support across a wider range of formats and introduces new ways to inspect files without extraction. Users can now open items with associated applications, use custom apps, or rely on PeaZip’s own tools for checksums, metadata scans, hex and text previews.
The integrated image viewer also gains broader format support, making it easier to inspect images directly inside compressed archives.
Moreover, the release improves handling of RAR and TAR archives, addressing performance and reliability in two of the most common formats users work with. Backend components receive updates as well, with Pea 1.28 and Brotli 1.2 now included to deliver more efficient compression and decompression.
Lastly, PeaZip 10.8 is built with Lazarus 4.2 while maintaining compatibility with Lazarus 3.x and 2.x, ensuring a smooth experience for developers and packagers.
