Three months after the 7.3 release, PeerTube, a decentralized video hosting platform developed as a free and open-source alternative to centralized services, rolled out version 8.0.

The new Lucide player theme introduces a cleaner, more modern look, replacing bold icons with lighter, unobtrusive elements that highlight the video itself. Peer-to-peer details now sit inside the “Stats for nerds” menu, and the volume controls have been simplified. For those who prefer the classic interface, the old player theme remains available at the platform, channel, or video level.
