The major C++ compilers are starting to ship modules implementations so I figured I’d add more support for those in Meson. That resulted in this blog post. It will not be pleasant or fun. Should you choose to read it, you might want to keep your emergency kitten image image reserve close at hand.

At first you run into all the usual tool roughness that you’d expect from new experimental features. For example, GCC generates dependency files that don’t work with Ninja. Or that Clang’s module scanner does not support a -o command line argument to write results to a file, but instead it dumps them to stdout.
