Writer and producer Kerry Ehrin has found a new studio home.
Ehrin has signed an overall deal at Sony Pictures Television. Under the multi-year pact, the former Morning Show boss and Bates Motel co-creator (who had a previous deal at Apple) will create, develop and produce scripted series for the studio via her Bad Attitude Entertainment. Christine Pham heads development for the company.
The deal also brings Ehrin back together with Sony Pictures TV Studios president Katherine Pope; the two worked together when Pope was an NBCUniversal executive and Ehrin worked as a writer and producer on Friday Night Lights and Parenthood.
“I’ve known Kerry for many years and feel incredibly lucky to reunite with her at Sony,” Pope said in a statement. “A killer writer who also happens to be a top-notch producer and showrunner, Kerry’s work is marked by depth, authenticity, and a fearless approach to exploring the complexities of human nature.”
Said Ehrin, “I’m so delighted to have found my way back to Katherine and to be joining Lauren [Stein], Andrew [Plotkin], and the rest of the incredible Sony family. Their passion for character-driven storytelling, support of original voices and willingness to take risks is inspiring, and I’m excited to help create the next generation of stories together.”
Ehrin developed The Morning Show at Apple TV and served as showrunner on the first two seasons of the drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. She co-created and executive produced the critically acclaimed Bates Motel, which ran for five seasons on A&E. Along with Friday Night Lights and Parenthood, her writing and producing credits also include Boston Public, Moonlighting and The Wonder Years. She is repped by Robb Rothman and Jim Ehrich at Rothman Brecher and Phil Klein.
