Alameda County officials have confirmed that the Livermore man who was allegedly killed by his roommate last month was a county public health commissioner with nearly 30 years’ experience working in healthcare organizations.

Alameda County officials have confirmed that the Livermore man who was allegedly killed by his roommate last month was a county public health commissioner with nearly 30 years’ experience working in healthcare organizations.
David Hurst, 55, became a member of the Alameda County Public Health Commission, which advises the Board of Supervisors, in August 2020, according to a LinkedIn page.

Police arrested Hurst’s roommate, Brayam Adoni Chirinos, 30, on Dec. 3 and he was charged with murdering his roommate on Friday, according to authorities. Chirinos was set to be arraigned on Monday, which was also his 31st birthday, court records show.
On Dec. 2, police started their investigation after Hurst’s brother reported him missing and a woman told 911 that she could see inside Hurst’s home in the 1000 block of North P Street and he appeared to be dead on the kitchen floor, according to court records. Authorities say they found evidence that Hurst was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife on Nov. 28, according to court records.
Authorities arrested Chirinos on Dec. 3 in San Francisco, where he was driving Hurst’s car, police said. Authorities say the motive remains under investigation, however, Hurst had complained about problems with Chirinos. When police found Hurst’s body, his remains were badly decomposing inside the residence the two men shared.
Chirinos allegedly confessed to the killing after his arrest. Police booked him into jail without bail on suspicion of murder. According to Livermore police, Chirinos has an extensive criminal history, including prior arrests for DUI, assault, domestic violence, and false imprisonment in both Florida and Texas. He also has an active warrant out of Florida for battery and violation of probation.
No one on the commission or at the most recent employer listed on Hurst’s LinkedIn page, Valley Health Plan, a publicly sponsored organization based in San Jose, could immediately be reached for comment.
