Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News &East Bay Times) girls Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Dec. 1-6.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.
Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.
We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted toMaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.

On to the nominees:
**Yariah Asidanya, Pittsburg basketball: **The junior posted two double-doubles last week. She scored 13 points and posted 10 rebounds with eight steals and three assists in a 41-35 win over Rodriguez, then added a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds, 12 steals, four blocks and two assists in a 45-31 win over Berkeley.
**Hanna Behnami, Los Gatos basketball: **The senior forward paced Los Gatos with 24 points as the Wildcats beat Branham 52-32.
Grace Curley, St. Francis basketball: Curley led the Lancers with 14 points as St. Francis beat California 63-36.
Justine Desmidt, Carlmont basketball: In two victories during the Lynbrook tournament against Branham and Leland, Desmidt scored 16 points, grabbed 25 rebounds and blocked four shots. She had a double-double against Leland with 11 points and 15 rebounds, including eight offensive boards.
Maliya Hunter, Archbishop Mitty basketball: The sophomore scored 34 points and added 10 rebounds in the championship game of the La Jolla Country Day tournament, leading Mitty to a 76-46 win over Rancho Christian. She scored 65 points and added 30 rebounds across the four tournament games and was named to the all-tournament team.
Iwalani Lealao, James Logan basketball: The senior scored 28 points in a 59-50 win over Pinole Valley and added 18 points in a 49-48 win over Granada as Logan started its season 2-0 last week.
Sofia Mahmood, Livermore basketball: The junior scored 22 points to lead Livermore to a 50-28 win over Hayward.
**Sophia Muñoz, Mt. Eden soccer: **The freshman scored all four goals in a 4-1 win over Irvington and added a goal in a loss to Freedom. She has scored all seven of Mt. Eden’s goals through three games.
Allie Rummelhoff, Monta Vista basketball: Rummelhoff scored 15 points as the Matadors beat Harker 48-41 in overtime.
Naliyah Sefidi, Monte Vista basketball: Sefidi scored 23 points in a 53-44 win over Northgate and 19 points in a 49-43 win over Las Lomas. She added 19 more in a 60-40 loss to San Marin to cap a prolific scoring week.
