We’ve tested and vetted other Shark vacuums before and have continuously been pleased by their performance and features, so it’s no surprise that we back this pet-specific vac from the company.
One of the things we like the most about this upright model is that its specially crafted vacuum head uses rotating paddles instead of bristles to pick up embedded hair, fine dust, and dirt from all types of surfaces. We’ve noticed that this method helps prevent longer hair from getting tangled in the brush roll. There’s also an odor-neutralizing cartridge in the vacuum’s floor head to help combat that familiar “dog smell” while you clean.
The Rotator has a large 2.9-liter dustbin that can accommodate more hair, in addition to a HEPA filter and anti-allergen seal to capture pet dander. If you need to clean stairs or another hard-to-reach area, the vacuum’s hose stretches up to an impressive 12 feet, and it comes with a crevice tool and pet upholstery tool to clean other surfaces.

Bissell Cleanview Bagless Upright Pet Hair Vacuum
Pros
- Quality vacuum for a great price
- Side brushes for edge cleaning
- Comes with multiple attachments
- Washable filter
- Easy-to-empty dirt tank
Cons
- Long hair can get tangled in brush roll
It’s hard to come by a vacuum that is less than $150 that doesn’t skimp on suction power, assets, or reliability. We feel that this model packs all of the above, while maintaining an accessible price.
We tried out Bissell’s Cleanview vacuum, a strong upright model that’s still lightweight, making it easy to maneuver over the floor. It has good suction on both hard floors and carpeting, and effortlessly picks up large pieces of debris, as well as fine dust and pet hair.
The Cleanview features a swivel head for swift navigation around furniture and a robust brush roll packed with bristles, and unique side bristles that reach closely along the edges of your walls. It comes with attachments for removing pet hair from stairs and hard-to-reach corners on hardwood and carpeted floors. It’s easy to empty, too, with a button on front that releases dirt directly into the garbage.

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Lift-Off Upright Vacuum
Pros
- Special attachment for upholstery
- Optional Febreze filter to eliminate odor
- One-touch-release dustbin
- Detachable canister vacuum
Cons
- Hose doesn’t extend as far as other models
The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Turbo comes with multiple features that are a standout for pet owners. This model is equipped with a HEPA filter to keep allergens out of your home, and the canister detaches from the base, making it easier to clean stairs, around baseboards, and along blinds. Just keep in mind that the hose only extends seven feet, so you’ll have to carry the detachable pod close by.
Some noteworthy attachments are a tangle-free brush roll and a motorized tool that’s specifically designed to remove pet hair off upholstery. The primary vacuum head has LED lights on the front and sides, and there’s also a crevice tool with an LED light for convenient cleaning in dark corners, along with a two-in-one dusting brush.
The vacuum has a touch-and-release button on the dustbin’s exterior so you can easily empty it without getting dust and pet dander on your hands.

Dyson Dyson Ball Animal 3 Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Pros
- Whole-machine HEPA filtration
- Tangle-free brush roll
- Adjustable suction power

Dyson is most recognized for its powerful vacuums, and if you’re on the hunt for a machine that easily pulls pet hair out of your shaggiest of carpets, you won’t be disappointed with the Ball Animal 3 Extra model.
Besides strong suction, this vacuum boasts a five-layer, complete filtration system that captures dust and pet dander, preventing them from being released back into the air. The floor head has an integrated comb that untangles hair from the brush roll as it rotates, keeping lengthy strands from getting ensnared.
The vacuum is simple to handle thanks to the brand’s distinctive ball design, and it includes a combination tool and a stair tool. The wand is an instant-release and has an extended hose for reaching isolated areas like underneath your couch or around dining room chairs.

The dustbin has an anti-allergen seal and a HEPA filter, but take note of the smaller capacity–you might find yourself making trips to the trash can more frequently.
The vacuum has a low-profile design that can clean hard-to-reach areas, and LED headlights illuminate dirt or hair coating the floor. It does come with a few attachments, including a crevice tool and dusting brush. There’s also an upholstery tool for cleaning fabric, but it’s not motorized.

Miele Classic C1 Bagged Canister Vacuum Cleaner
Now 5% Off
Pros
- Powerful motor
- Lots of attachments included
- Excellent air filtration system
- Extra-long hose
Cons
- Harder to maneuver than an upright
Many pet owners and allergy sufferers highly recommend this brand—and for good reason. The company makes a fleet of high quality, powerful canister vacuums, and this one is tailored specifically for cleaning pet hair.
The vacuum head can be adjusted to five different heights to manage everything from area rugs and dhurries to hardwood floors and tile, and there are six speed settings. We’ve tested the Classic C1 Pure Suction which has a similar construction, and we found the extra long hose to be super helpful because we didn’t have to lug the canister vacuum everywhere.
This vacuum comes with a charcoal filter that traps pet odor and tiny particles, and the brand also sells HEPA filters that can be swapped in during allergy season or when your dog is shedding heavily. Its attachments consist of a motorized brush, a dusting brush, and tools for cleaning upholstery and crevices.
Key Specs

eufy X10 Pro Omni Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo
Now 22% Off
Pros
- Anti-tangle brush roll
- Laser navigation to avoid obstacles
- Mops and vacuums
- High-capacity storage tanks
Cons
- No fine particle filtration
The X10 Pro Omni is a combination vacuum and mop, so it tackles everything from muddy paw prints to spilled cat litter. The robot vacuum has an auto-detangle feature that runs the brush roll in reverse to loosen hair and make it easier to remove.
The X10 uses AI.See, which is a visual recognition technology that can detect an array of objects to avoid as it moves around your home. The base of the X10 is fairly large, but it has tanks for dry debris, clean water, and dirty water.
The 2.5-liter dust bag only has to be emptied every two months, and the clean water tank holds enough to mop a 1,500 square foot home about two to three times. Just remember that the mop heads take about three hours to fully dry.

Best Handheld
Black+Decker Dustbuster Furbuster Cordless Handheld Pet Vacuum
Now 38% Off
Pros
- Portable and rechargeable
- Extended crevice tool
- Motorized brush roll
- Two different filters
Cons
- Small dustbin capacity
A handheld vacuum can’t replace a regular upright or cordless vacuum, but you can use it to spot clean and tackle quick messes in between longer cleaning sessions. The Dustbuster Furbuster is outfitted with a rechargeable 20-volt max battery, and that combined with the power boost mode provides strong suction for picking up stubborn pet hair. The vac can run for up to 20 minutes.
The Furbuster comes with a motorized pet brush that can be detached to expose the built-in extended crevice tool for cleaning hidden corners and less accessible locations.
An extra-large dustbin can be emptied with a one-touch button, and there is a washable filter and a pre-filter for collecting dust and dander. We especially like this feature because smaller handheld vacuums can sometimes skip out on advanced filtration systems.
We also recommend the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser as a runner-up handheld vacuum for its three-stage filtration, powerful suction, and motorized brush.

| Bin Capacity | 0.18 gal |
| Filtration System | Pre-filter and washable filter |
| Attachments | Motorized brush tool, built-in crevice tool |
