SMHI has issued a red warning for heavy snow and strong wind gusts in coastal areas near Härnösand, Kramfors and Örnsköldsvik. People there are being urged not to drive given the very high risk of getting stuck. Motorists and others who need to travel are being urged to check local weather forecasts and the traffic situation for both roads and rail transport in Västernorrland county.
