The Problem: AI Search is Expensive

Last month, I looked at typical AI infrastructure costs and realized why so many startups struggle to add semantic search.

Traditional RAG stack (for ~10,000 searches/month):

  • Pinecone vector database: $50-70/month (Standard plan minimum)
  • OpenAI embeddings API: $30-50/month (usage-based)
