Game developer Hypergryph’s all-new gacha game Arknights: Endfield launched earlier today (22 January, 2026), but almost immediately ran into problems concerning player purchases.
Players who connected Paypal to their Arknights: Endfield accounts have reported unauthorised transactions on their accounts across the globe, with international players seemingly being able to access other Paypal accounts to buy themselves in-game items.
Following mass reports of these transaction errors, Hypergryph has disabled the Paypal payment method.

Game developer Hypergryph’s all-new gacha game Arknights: Endfield launched earlier today (22 January, 2026), but almost immediately ran into problems concerning player purchases.
Players who connected Paypal to their Arknights: Endfield accounts have reported unauthorised transactions on their accounts across the globe, with international players seemingly being able to access other Paypal accounts to buy themselves in-game items.
Following mass reports of these transaction errors, Hypergryph has disabled the Paypal payment method.
Arknights: Endfield’s Paypal payment method leads to chaos
Arknights: Endfield launched at 11am GMT+8 today, leading many to hop into the highly-anticipated gacha game immediately upon release. However, a few unlucky players making in-game purchases at launch were met with some rather unwelcome notifications from their payment processors, seemingly limited to Paypal users.
At 11:11 GMT+8, user tinman244 reported that they had almost been charged a whopping US$1,200 after attempting to purchase an in-game battle pass. The transaction attempted to go through multiple times, changing currency types from USD to JPY, and again to Canadian Dollars, according to the user.
Many players shared similar experiences in the game’s subreddit and on other social media platforms, reporting charges from international currencies they did not use, and for purchases they did not make. Players would reportedly attempt to make a purchase, only to be charged foreign currency for unknown items they did not receive. One player reported getting charged ¥528,000 JPY for simply buying the battle pass.
Developer Hypergryph picked up on the issue quickly enough, confirming at 12:08pm (GMT+8) that it had disabled the Paypal payment channel, and was putting it under “temporary maintenance and upgrades.”
It also advised players to make purchases using other methods for now, and promised that past “transactions involving abnormal item delivery or payment deduction” would be handled “accordingly.” Hopefully, that means players experiencing fraudulent purchases will soon receive some form of assistance in reversing their transactions.
