In 2023, I set a goal to read 52 books, a goal I really had to scramble to meet by the end of the year. In 2024, I decided to ease up a bit and lowered my goal to 36, figuring three books a month felt more sustainable. This year, I wanted to challenge myself again and set a goal of 40 books. Unfortunately, because of all of the LIFE things, I didn’t even come close to hitting it. As of today, I’ve read/completed 25 books, and I’ll likely end the year at 26 if I can finish my current read before the end of the year.

Random thoughts based on my 2025 Books
- I don’t know when it happened, but I somehow fell into the Romantasy rabbit hole. I think it started out with either the ACOTAR series, or Fourth Wing.
- I’ve really been enjoying Historical Fiction the past couple of years, ever since starting the book club with my friends from high school. I tend to gravitate towards historical fiction from the 1930s-1940s.
- Whenever I start feeling like I’m heading towards a reading slump, sapphic fiction is my definite go-to. I’m starting to have authors that I recognize and prefer.
- I tend to pick up books I hear others talk about, even when I have no idea what it’s about. It’s not until I’m deep in the book do I start to research what I’ve gotten myself into.
I’m not quite sure yet if I will give myself a book goal for next year. As long as I’m reading, I think that should be enough. We’ll see.
Ok, that’s it. I’d love to hear what your favorite books of 2025 are. I’m always happy to add to my TBR list, no matter how long it’s gotten the past few years.
