Assistive Technology Survey 2025 – Media Kit
The Assistive Technology Survey 2025 is Australia and New Zealand’s most comprehensive survey exploring how people use and experience assistive technology online.
The 2025 edition will capture the latest trends in assistive technology and adaptive strategies. The updates include questions about emerging tools, such as artificial intelligence, to understand how new technologies are shaping accessibility. These insights will fill a critical gap in research, which has often overlooked real-world experiences.
Now in its third year, this is the first and only survey of its kind, building a robust evidence base to help inform policy, product design and accessibility innovation across Australia and New Zealand.
We aim to understand
- What assistive technologies and adaptive strategies people use
- Which devices and browsers are most popular
- What the online experience is like for assistive technology users
Why we’re asking for your help
Every response increases the power of this research, ensuring that the experiences of people using assistive technology are accurately reflected.
This means we can:
- Share better testing methods: Inform creators of digital products about improved testing methods to better meet the needs of assistive technology users
- Increase visibility: Create a source of information that highlights both established and emerging assistive technologies in use
- Increase access to information: All findings will be compiled into a free, publicly shared report and dashboard
The results can be a useful reference for your organisation and anyone involved in building digital products. We aim to release the findings in May 2026.
Who should take part
We are seeking responses from anyone in Australia or New Zealand, aged 18 or over, who uses assistive technology or adaptive strategies to make their devices easier to use.
This may include:
-
People with disability who use assistive technology in any form, from mobility aids to screen readers
-
Older Australians who use technology to support independence or wellbeing
-
Allied health professionals, educators and support workers involved in assistive technology selection, funding or use
To be eligible to take part, you need to:
- Live in Australia or New Zealand
- Be over 18 years of age
Why it matters
Assistive technology plays a vital role in enabling independence, connection and participation, yet there are still significant barriers in cost, awareness and design.
By contributing to this survey, participants help shape:
-
National accessibility and inclusion policy
-
Industry standards and innovation priorities
-
A stronger, more equitable assistive technology ecosystem in Australia and New Zealand
