IBM unveils 0.7 nm Nanostack chip technology for AI (opens in new tab)
IBM unveiled a semiconductor research platform June 25 that it calls the world's first sub-1 nanometer chip technology. The platform uses a 0.7 nanometer, or 7 angstrom, transistor architecture named Nanostack. The company said the three-dimensional design can fit nearly 100 billion transistors onto a chip the size of a fingernail, nearly twice the density of its 2 nanometer chip announced in 2021.
