If you have been here for any amount of time, you already know I enjoy experimenting with AI, mostly to generate colorful backgrounds for thumbnails. The prompts are the easy part. Organizing hundreds of image generations is where things start to fall apart. Then, I found SmartGallery!
SmartGallery is a self-hosted, browser based gallery designed for managing ComfyUI outputs. It scans your generated images and videos, links each file to its original workflow metadata, and presents everything in a fast, searchable interface. The result is a permanent visual archive where past generations remain easy to browse, understand, and revisit, even when ComfyUI is not running.

SmartGallery Main Features
• Browser based, self hosted gallery for ComfyUI outputs • Automatically links images and videos to their original workflows • Works even when ComfyUI is not running • Supports PNG, JPG, WebP, and MP4 files • Fast browsing with SQLite indexing and smart caching • Mobile friendly interface for desktop, tablet, and phone • Search by filename, extension, folder, and date range • Prompt keyword search across workflow text • Deep workflow search for models, LoRAs, upscalers, and input files • Node summary showing model, seed, parameters, and source media • Real time folder scanning and background sync • Batch selection with ZIP download support • Universal upload to rediscover workflows from existing files • Docker ready for clean, portable deployments
The primary advantage is access to workflow data at the file level. Opening an image or video shows the associated model, prompt text, seed, and input files without reopening ComfyUI. This reduces the need to rerun jobs or manually document settings for later reference.

Search is the most consistently useful feature. Prompt keyword search allows filtering results based on the text used during generation. Deep workflow search makes it possible to locate outputs based on specific models, LoRAs, or input filenames. Both searches support multiple terms, which helps narrow large libraries quickly.
Performance remains stable even with large numbers of files. Folder scans run in the background, browsing stays responsive, and searches return results quickly. This matters when working with tens of thousands of outputs, where slower tools become difficult to use.

Mobile access is functional and practical. The interface adapts well to smaller screens, and browsing, filtering, and viewing metadata work without relying on remote desktop tools. This makes it possible to review outputs from devices other than the primary workstation.
File management features are awesome! Create new folders, navigation, sorting, batch selection, moving images to folders, and ZIP downloads work as expected. Universal upload allows older ComfyUI outputs to be added and indexed, including workflow metadata, which is useful for consolidating files created before SmartGallery was installed.
Final Notes and Thoughts
I’ve been using SmartGallery for a while now, and it has honestly changed how I manage my ComfyUI outputs. I no longer waste time digging through folders or trying to remember which model or input I used. Being able to search by prompt or workflow and see all the details at a glance makes revisiting old projects simple.
Also, just a quick note: The search bar on the left will only search your file notes and should not be confused with the file search.
Be sure to check out the SmartGallery Github repo and give it a star!
