What is your favorite film that takes place in outer space? For me without a doubt its ‘Armageddon’. I have watched the President’s Speech montage and launch scene over 50 times whenever I want to be inspired by the crazy visuals and Trevor Rabin’s uplifting score.

Doug Liman’s proposed NASA SpaceX movie starring Tom Cruise has found its failure to launch over political reasons. The two previously teamed up on ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and ‘American Made’, and were planning on filming parts of the movies in actual space about a struggling guy who could save the world.

PageSix is reporting on a source who said: "They would need NASA coordination to do the movie, and supposedly, Tom Cruise did not want to ask Donald Trump for a favor. You’d need permission from the federal government. Tom didn’t want to ask for political reasons."

NASA Admin Jim Bredenstine tweeted in 2020: “NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality."

Cruise has avoided politics for most of his career, and it makes no sense for him to start now and turn off half his audience. Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, politics should stay out of entertainment and sports, in my opinion. When the world is so divided by religion, nationality and politics, those two things should bring people together.
