About this mod
Dwemer Pocket Dimension adds a portable shelter that the player can enter from anywhere in the world (as long as you’re not in combat). The pocket dimension is furnished with categorized storage and each workbench you might need, as well as a few new workbenches like the Disenchantment Font and the Recycling Station.
Requirements Permissions and credits Changelogs
Introduction This mod began as a simple, much smaller pocket dimension intended to be mostly used as a ‘campsite’ for players who use survival mode, but as I worked on it for longer I realized that a smaller tent-like shelter wouldn’t offer the utility I was looking for. I ended up expanding the pocket dimension, while still being careful not to make it too large or complex to navigate and get the hang of using. The end result is a compact but fully-featured player home that can be deployed from anywhere, with categorized storage and all the crafting stations you could need. In addition to normal (vanilla) workbenches, I’ve also re-implemented the cut Disenchantment Font, which can be used to disenchant items from loot pools back to their base item. This feature by default is only compatible with vanilla items, but can be patched easily with an xEdit script which can automatically generate the recipe records for enchanted items added by mods, assuming they are using the template system correctly. Another new feature is the Recycling Station, which allows you to break down certain clutter items into ‘scraps’ that can then be smelted into ingots. This is a great way to reclaim some value from all those random clutter items you might randomly pick up. Finally, the mod includes an optional, simple, alternate death system that resurrects the player in the pocket dimension at the cost of a configurable amount of gold and experience.
Features
-
Deployable from anywhere outside of combat.
-
Multiple containers sorted by item type for easy organization.
-
Option to auto-sort items into appropriate containers via sorting station.
-
Sorting for food is controlled by specific FormLists to ensure foods are sorted into the proper storage containers for them.
-
Sorting options can be toggled via MCM. Example: You can choose to disable gold sorting if you don’t want gold to be automatically taken out of your inventory and put into gold storage.
-
All vanilla workbenches, plus new ones like the Disenchantment Font and Recycling Station.
-
Disenchantment Font: Disenchant items back to their base form (vanilla items by default, with mod compatibility via xEdit patch).
-
Recycling Station: Break down clutter items into scraps for smelting into ingots.
-
Resurrect in the pocket dimension at a configurable cost of gold and experience.
-
Adjust costs of resurrection via MCM.
-
Avoid being stuck in a death loop by recalling to a safe location you previously marked.
-
Lost gold is marked in backpack for retrieval.
-
Recall to a previously-marked, safe location if necessary (to avoid being stuck in a death loop).
-
The pocket dimension is furnished with various static decorations in order to prevent bad physics interactions and to create more immersive storage stations.
-
Carry weight buff while in pocket dimension to accommodate things like working in the forge with many items.
-
Toggleable extra armory room with additional weapon and armor racks.
How to Get The pocket dimension entry device can be found in a small Dwemer Ruin near Dayspring Canyon. Look for a Dwemer Lift coming out of a rock up on a small hill almost as far east as you can go, or check the screenshots for a map location. Once inside, you’ll have to fight some extremely low level Falmer enemies and a few undead. You should bring a filled Grand Soul Gem with you!
You’ll notice that the shelter entry device is a food item. This is intentional, as it allows you to use it with many of the UI mods that add quick wheels or hot bars.
Installation
- Download and install via your preferred mod manager (Vortex, Mod Organizer 2, etc.) or manually by placing the files in your Skyrim Special Edition ‘Data’ folder.
- This mod requires SKSE, but only for the sorting station. If you do not have SKSE installed, you can still use the pocket dimension and all its features except for automatic item sorting. The alternate death configuration options also require SKSE, but the death system itself will still work without MCM Helper installed.
- Launch the game and enable the mod in the load order.
Compatibility This mod shouldn’t conflict with most other mods, but the location you find the pocket dimension from is placed in a wilderness cell near the entrance to Dayspring Canyon, so be cautious of any mods that heavily modify that area. The Disenchantment Font is only compatible with vanilla items by default, but you can use the provided xEdit script to patch in compatibility for mod-added enchanted items.
(Obviously) if you’re using another alternate death mod (ex. Shadow of Skyrim), this mod’s death system will conflict with it. Don’t activate more than one alternate death system at a time.
xEdit Script The included xEdit script can be used to generate disenchantment recipes for mod-added enchanted items, allowing them to be disenchanted at the Disenchantment Font. To use it, simply load your mod(s) along with this mod in xEdit, select any items you want to generate recipes for, and run the script. It will ask you for a plugin filename to use for the new records, and then it will create the recipes automatically. Make sure to only select enchanted items that use a template for the script to work correctly.
Note: If you create a new plugin when asked for a filename, the script will throw an error when it tries to create records because the new plugin is missing the required masters. It’s probably possible to automatically do this in xEdit, but I hate pascal/delphi so the workaround is to create a new empty plugin manually and add the necessary masters to it, and then use that plugin when asked for a filename.
Credits Thanks to Bethesda for making Skyrim and the Creation Kit, and to the modding community for all the resources and tools that make learning to mod possible :) Parapets for MCM Helper Also thanks to RobbyClams, he gave me tons of ideas for this and helped test.
