Yesterday, we shared our ambitious goal to bring on 750 new recurring (that’s monthly or annual) supporters by midnight on Dec. 31.
Before the first day of our campaign had finished, 82 people had signed up, representing 11 per cent of our total goal! Will you join them? You can do so here.

The Tyee is a non-profit newsroom, and support from our readers through the Tyee Builders program is the largest part of our budget. We do member drives like this every year, but we’ve got some special perks this time:
- The Tyee is now a registered journalism organization, meaning that we can give out tax receipts for contributions of $5 or more.
- For December only, we’re sending a snazzy new Tyee hat to Tyee Builders who sign up to give $15 or more per month, or $180 or more per year (only if you want it — you can opt out of swag if it’s not your thing).

Tax receipts and hats are grand, but we know that most people support The Tyee because they just want more good journalism in the world.
Don’t take it from me — here is what some of our Tyee Builders have told us:
“I’ve always been an avid news reader. I went back and looked, I started paying for The Tyee in 2021 but I had been reading for a while before that point as I watched the kind of consolidation of local news outlets in B.C.
“There’s this void of local journalism. I really appreciate the more investigative journalism The Tyee does and the incredible work that actually represents the people involved in the issues without sugar-coating really serious developments.
“It’s worth paying for. It’s worth supporting. That’s how you encourage growth, and I really appreciate being able to pay so other people who want to read the news can access it, too, because there’s no paywall.” — Jaclyn, Vancouver
“The Tyee keeps my mind and attitude open, the more to learn from others, to be aware of challenges facing our neighbours beyond our village limits... Kudos to all the writers and editors and everyone who helps make The Tyee work so wonderfully well. Truly, you are my very literate, very caring, very very persistent truth searchers of what’s the back story. You know, and I know, that we need to read from a new perspective, to welcome information with the openness of an ocean sky.” — Annie, Kaslo
“A simple note to tell you that since I became a supporter/builder of The Tyee, I have had nothing but excellent input on current events from you. The article about disinformation was so informative and has assisted me by reinforcing some of the methods I am already using and providing a raft of new ways to combat disinformation.” — Paul, Sarnia
Join the club that’s keeping quality journalism alive in our communities. You give whatever amount you want and can stop at any time. Join our year-end supporter drive and help us hit our target by Dec. 31. ![[Tyee]](https://thetyee.ca/design-article.thetyee.ca/ui/img/yellowblob.png)
