Charli XCX in ‘The Moment’

The Sundance Film Festival has announced the slate of films for its 2026 edition, which happens January 22–February 1 in Park City, UT. This will be its first edition since the death of festival founder Robert Redford.

As usual, there are a number of music-related films:

• Antiheroine (dir Edward Lovelace and James Hall): “Singer, songwriter, and actor Courtney Love has long had an impact on rock and pop culture. Now sober and set to release new music for the first time in over a decade, Courtney is ready to reveal her story, unfiltered and unapologetic.”
• The Moment (dir Aidan Zamiri): This is the Charli XCX mockumentary for A24 that’s described as “A rising pop star navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut.”
• *The Best Summer *(dir Tamra Davis): Base on footage shot in 1995, this documentary “reveals electric performances, candid interviews, and intimate backstage life with the Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters, Pavement, Rancid, Beck, The Amps, and Bikini Kill — an all-access view inside an era-defining moment in music.”
• Broken English (dir Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard): “A portrait of the inimitable singer, songwriter, and icon Marianne Faithfull” featuring Tilda Swinton, Nick Cave, Beth Orton, Courtney Love and more.
• THE DISCIPLE (dir Joanna Natasegara): “An outsider fueled by relentless determination works his way into the inner circle of the Wu-Tang Clan, where his ambition and creativity converge in the making of an album poised to ignite global controversy.” The album in question is Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, an edition-of-one release purchased by notorious pharma bro Martin Shkreli.

Other notable titles at Sundance 2026: Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, the new film from The State‘s David Wain and Ken Marino that stars Zoey Deutch, Jon Hamm, and John Slattery (not to mention most of the rest of The State); John Wilson‘s feature documentary debut The History of Concrete (which, if it’s anything like How To with John Wilson, won’t actually be about the history of concrete); Gregg Araki‘s I Want Your Sex starring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman; and lots more.

As with the last few years, you don’t have to go to Park City in January to see some of the Sundance films, there are many that will be streaming through the festival’s website.
